WE ARE BADAPPLE
We are Badapple Theatre. We are for
theatre for everyone… everywhere!
We are one of the UK’s most vibrant
and prolific touring companies and
have been taking our much-loved
original productions to rural venues
nationwide for 25 years!
Our stories delight audiences of all
ages, bringing high-quality theatre to
remote locations. We talk about
worldwide environmental and social issues with a local perspective and a good dose of fun.
Our productions encourage communities to come together and build social networks
through our Theatre on your Doorstep project. We pride ourselves on our dynamic andinclusive work with young people through our Youth Theatre, Play In A Week and Schools Springboard sessions.
All the images above were drawn from just ONE year of our rich 25year history, 2022. They
showcase our unique theatre mixed with music, film, circus, puppetry and more. Event
were indoors (our largest venue was York Theatre Royal) outdoors (like Ripon Theatre
Festival) as well as a massive number of workshops and participation projects.
Our fundraising in 2023 is to allow us to expand our rural touring network and reach even
more rural communities. And, closer to our Green Hammerton home, to allow us to
restructure and expand our Youth Theatre programme so we can extend our age range
from 7-16 years.
We are a lean and resilient company and were selected in Spring 2023 for the prestigious
British Library/ Arts Council England “Get Ready for Growth” Programme to assist us in
solidifying our winning creative community business after the industry shocks of Covid-19.
And we are looking for sponsors and partners with the same commitment to community
growth and social inclusion as ourselves. The funds we raise in 2023 will contribute to our
main costs of fees for experienced freelance arts workers to facilitate our professional
touring and participatory projects. And to contribute to our regular overheads, for example,
our part-time administrator, statutory insurances, storage for sets and technical
equipment, marketing and publicity.
We are a company limited by guarantee and any
‘profit’ from trading is re-invested in our many dynamic company activities.
